Egypt's new administrative capital, costing more than US $45 billion (about RMB 287.7 billion), is the largest construction project launched by Sisi since he took office in 2014. It is built in the desert about 45 kilometers east of Cairo, covering an area of about 6879 square kilometers, twice that of Cairo, and is expected to accommodate about 6.5 million people.
